"I Turned My Height Into Data!"

The 2nd annual 'Science at Play' presented by PPG brought over 400 fans and future scientists to PPG Paints Arena to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders. DES set up an immersive data experience where kids could Turn Height into Data! Kids stood under an ultrasonic sensor that measured their height, transferred the data through an Arduino and into a custom dashboard where they could compare their height against their favorite Penguin players! Despite many tiptoes, Iceburgh retained his spot at the 100th percentile 🐧

Spot Connectivity at PPG was another activity at our table. Kids spotted stadium technology that use data connectivity for operation - like security cameras and the scoreboard. Fun Fact: DES installs and maintains the Penguin's data cabling... which is why DES is a Proud Technology Partner of the Pittsburgh Penguins!
