How About a Career in STEM? DES High School Booth Goes Virtual
What technology skills go into gameday experiences? Discover your options at Junior Achievement's Virtual Career Fair.
Feb 25, 2021
For high school students seeking to broaden their career horizons, they have the next 90 days to browse offerings from over 70 local organizations. The annual career fair, by Junior Achievement of Western PA, is being hosted virtually for the first time. The fair attracts over 20,000 students from over 110 school districts. While this year attendees won’t be holding branded tote bags crammed with swag and fliers, the virtual environment is chockablock with digital goodies. Students can visit booths and fill their digital backpacks with videos and documents for further research.
The highlight of DES’ booth is a video of DES president, Bob Dagostino, describing the gameday technology at Heinz Field. Did you know that the sound system at the stadium must be precisely calibrated to the 250th of a millisecond to ensure that the fans at the back of the stadium hear the same action as those sitting in the front? You’ll discover this and other neat facts in this fun video.
Technology is all around us – and at the forefront of the digital reality are the skilled professions that make it possible: System designers, engineers, programmers, technicians, project managers. Check out a video short: A Day in the Life of a Security Sales Specialist.
The career fair will run virtually from Feb 26, 2021 until May 27, 2021.
